We are delighted to share the news that Associate Professor Christian Downie will be undertaking a role as Principal Advisor to the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water for six months this year. During his secondment, Christian will be working on Australia’s international climate and energy policy.
Christian’s expertise lies in the areas of energy politics, climate politics and foreign affairs, and he has previously served as an advisor to several Australian Government agencies, including the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. With over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters including publications in Regulation & Governance, Global Environmental Politics, Energy Policy, Climate Policy, International Affairs, Business & Politics and Third World Quarterly, Christian brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. He is also the author of the recent book, Business Battles in the U.S. Energy Sector: Lessons for a clean energy transition.
The new Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water has been established to deliver on the Government’s climate change and energy agenda and protect Australia’s environment and water resources.
