Furthering collaboration between the Australian National University and the Department of Finance
The Australian National University (ANU) College of Asia and the Pacific has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Finance (Finance).
The partnership between ANU and Finance provides a foundation for ongoing collaboration that supports the Australian Government’s regulatory reform agenda and promotes research excellence. The agreement has been formalised and signed by ANU College of Asia and the Pacific Dean, Professor Helen Sullivan, and A/g First Assistant Secretary, Regulatory Reform Division, Mr Jordan Hatch.
“Initiatives progressed under this partnership will support the Government’s efforts to boost productivity and deliver reforms that improve the quality of regulation and ensure regulation is fit for purpose in the digital era,” Mr Hatch said.
“This MOU highlights our commitment to advancing regulatory policy through research, design and practice in the Asia-Pacific region. Continuing our longstanding engagement with the Department of Finance provides an excellent opportunity for our staff and students to contribute to the Australian Government’s reform agenda,” Professor Sullivan said.
The MOU supports collaborative efforts on a diverse range of projects. Key highlights include joint research and data analysis, co-hosted events, publication initiatives and exchanges for staff and student capability building.
The new agreement formalises the existing strong relationship between ANU and Finance, which has grown through the delivery of successful collaborative projects. Academic staff from ANU are working with Finance on important research, with progress already being made towards achieving the MOU’s objectives.
Efforts are underway to establish an internship program within Finance’s Regulatory Reform Division, which will provide unique work-based learning opportunities for students.
