Roxana Claudia Tompea
Roxana is an ARC Laureate and PhD Scholar at the Planetary Health Equity (PHE) Hothouse within the School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet), Australian National University. Her research investigates regulatory frameworks to combat greenwashing in the food sector, with a focus on ultra-processed foods. She is particularly interested in how misleading marketing practices (such as leanwashing, healthwashing, and greenwashing) impact perceptions related to the health and environmental benefits of foods.
Since 2020, Roxana has worked with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), focusing on advancing circular economy principles in industry. Through her role as a communication and knowledge management specialist, she has built experience in sustainability and international development, promoting environmental action and green growth opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises. Building on this experience, her research explores the commercial determinants of health in food systems, particularly focusing on corporate influence over health and sustainability narratives.
